2023-24 Grants
The Morris Educational Foundation funds projects in the Morris School District that create new models for learning, enrich the curriculum, promote self-esteem, enhance and expand enrichment opportunities, and help teachers grow professionally. Our goal is to ensure the highest level of educational innovation supporting students and staff in all 10 schools in a partnership of lifelong learning.

Laminator at Woodland School – $2,000
The school received a hot laminator to allow teachers to make materials last the full school year and beyond, and for students to write on with dry-erase markers increasing the diversity of their learning.

Funded by a private donor, this grant purchased an 85” television for the main lobby of Frelinghuysen Middle School to share school activities, updates, news and events with the school community in real-time. The gift also provided a replacement Promethean Board for one classroom.

An anonymous donor supported a school-wide theatre residency at Normandy Park School with Mayo Performing Arts Center.

MEF Student Club Advisor – $1,200:
Support for a Morristown High School staff advisor to guide our student group as they fundraise and support high school students’ initiatives.

Support from the Lauren & Emily Failla Foundation (LEFF) to train all staff at Morristown High School in mental health first aid for youth.

This in-kind grant from Morris Arts supported a class legacy project for the 2024 8th-grade class.

National Society of Black Engineers Jr. – $1,600:
Funding for the registration fees of eight Morristown High School students with need to attend the annual NSBE Jr. national convention.

Project Graduation Support – $250:
Support for Morristown High School’s All-Night Graduation Party fundraiser.

Poetry and Books – $10,000:
Morristown Festival of Books donated $10,000 to support the BJ Ward cultural arts programs at Sussex and Thomas Jefferson Schools and additional books for “El Recon del Alcalde” in the Morristown High School library.

To establish reading routines for Spanish and English-speaking families, Morris School District preschoolers and their parents enjoyed the in-person monthly Bilingual Book Club thanks to a generous MEF donor.

This author experience, supported by a private donor, brought second graders together with children’s book author, Sarah Aronson, and the Morris Museum’s Spark Lab in order to bring JUST LIKE RUBE GOLDBERG to life.

To recognize our students’ success, celebratory lawn signs were gifted to all Frelinghuysen Middle School and Morristown High School graduates at no cost to families thanks to the generosity of donor support.
