On Sunday March 8, 2026, a longtime Morris Educational Foundation supporter and Morristown resident, Kevin McNally, is embarking on a lifelong goal to ride his bike across the country. He will begin on March 8th, by dipping the rear wheel of his bike into the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, CA and starting the nearly 2-month bike ride to St Augustine, Florida where he will dip his front tire into the Atlantic Ocean at the completion of his 3,000 mile bike ride on April 20th.
His lifelong goal of biking across the country has taken on a very special meaning in remembrance of his son, Brian who died almost eight years ago. Capt. Brian McNally USMC was a lifelong New Jersey resident, raised in Morris Township, attended Morris School District schools and graduated from Morristown High School 2006. Brian was a graduate of The Citadel, a Captain in the US Marine Corps and a NJ State Police Officer. In memory of Brian McNally, the McNally Family established The Capt. Brian J. McNally USMC Scholarship through the Morris Educational Foundation to honor the life of Morristown High School Alumnus, Capt. Brian J. McNally USMC, an American Patriot, who exemplified a life dedicated to volunteerism and service to his schools, community, state and country. Brian’s final resting place is in Arlington National Cemetery in DC.
As Kevin pedals across the USA, it is the McNally’s hope to raise funds for this amazing scholarship for Morristown High School seniors who will pursue a First Responder related degree in college. Learn more about the Capt. Brian J. McNally USMC Scholarship by clicking here.
