Description: The Jeff Leloia Scholarship was established in February 2026 by friends and family of Jeff Leloia. Jeff Leloia was a graduate of Morristown High School’s class of 2001. He loved all sports, but his passion was hockey. He was the co-captain of the team during his senior year when Morristown High School won the Haas Cup. Jeff grew up in Morristown and always felt a strong connection to his hometown. As an adult, he established roots in neighboring Randolph and worked in Morristown. Sadly, Jeff passed away in February of 2019 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was only 34 years old. In honor of his memory, this scholarship fund has been set up by his family and friends to assist a young student-athlete with his or her future goals.
The scholarship will be awarded to a student-athlete who also gives back to the community through volunteering, has a 3.5 GPA or higher and plans to attend a trade school or 2 or 4-year college or university. Preference will be given to applicants with financial need. The award is $2,000.
Criteria:
- Morristown High School student-athlete
- Weighted GPA of 3.5 or above .
- Apply to or have been accepted by a trade school, 2-year community college, or a 4-year college or university.
- Preference will be given to students with financial need.
- Must demonstrate volunteer or community service effort.
Application Requirements:
- MEF Common Scholarship Application with current transcript
- Response to the essay prompt in 500 words or less: How has your experience as a student-athlete prepared you for your future career and life goals?
- Provide two letters of recommendation - one from a guidance counselor and one from a teacher.
