Colonial Immersion Day – $20,000

Colonial Immersion Day – $20,000

In honor of USA's 250th anniversary, students stepped out of the textbooks and into the 18th century to explore the diverse stories and voices that shaped our local community.

Thanks to the generosity of an MEF donor, every grade level took part in dynamic stations, including:
- Living History & Hands-On Inquiry: From the science behind the Butter Experience to exploring the trades and tools of the 1700s, history felt more real than ever.

- Historical Escape Rooms: Students used their critical thinking and literacy skills to decode "secret" correspondences and solve puzzles to "escape" back to the present!

- Music & Marching: MHS Marching Band members and Band Director David Gallagher led an incredible drum and fife station for our K/1 students, featuring colonial music, drumming, and marching games!

In addition, FMS student volunteers provided leadership across all stations and facilitated their own session featuring a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence and a lantern craft.
