Description:

The Judy & Eliot Steinberg Scholarship was established in honor of Judy and Eliot Steinberg, long-term residents of Morris Township who believed in education and equal opportunity for all. The scholarship is awarded annually to 1 – 3 Morristown High School juniors who intend to continue their education at a New Jersey public college. Successful candidates will demonstrate financial need, scholastic achievement, and a willingness to help others in the community. This scholarship is made possible by Robert (class of 1969), Julian (1973), Kerry, Andy (1975) and Sue Steinberg who have pledged $1 million to provide for the college education of 10 or more Morristown High School (MHS) students so they can graduate with minimal or no debt. 

Criteria:

This scholarship will be awarded based on financial need, career & academic vision and merit.

To be considered for this scholarship, the Morristown High School senior must:

  • Plans to attend a 4-year public college or university in New Jersey as a full-time undergraduate.   
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have a minimum weighted GPA of 3.0 
  • Demonstrate a willingness to help others in the community

Application Requirements:

  • MEF Common Scholarship Application with current transcript
  • Complete the following Supplemental Essays (250 words or less each):
    • Describe your anticipated major in college, your goals and why you have selected this path.
    • Why should you be chosen as the recipient of this award?  Tell us your story.
  • Complete the Financial Information Application Supplement
  • Provide two one-page letters of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, activity advisor, employer, parent or guardian that address why this student should be chosen for this scholarship
  • Complete the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and provide copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) reporting EFC (Estimated Financial Contribution) and provide a copy of the report.
  • DACA/Undocumented students, please complete the NJFAMS (New Jersey Financial Aid Management System) form via hesaa.org and provide a copy of the report.
  • If chosen as a finalist, interview with members of the Scholarship Committee
